Sanilac County Republican Party Leadership Executive Committee Officers
As elected servant leaders within Sanilac County, we have a Shared Destiny of Freedom with our fellow American citizen constituents. We acknowledge the truths our Founding Fathers declared; that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. We commit to advancing these principles into our communities, schools, and businesses by identifying, supporting, and electing honest, constitutionally conservative leaders who will work to support the Republic. We will collaborate to recruit, train, fundraise, and fight for fair elections. We will work to defeat the evil trying to destroy our “shared destiny of freedom”, giving thanks to Almighty God for our blessings.

Alyson provides leadership and strategic direction for the Sanilac County Republican Party, overseeing operations, events, and coordination with district and state committees.

Jan Kargl
Jan supports the Chairwoman in party operations, assists with outreach and volunteer engagement, and helps ensure smooth execution of county initiatives.

Debby Morden
Debby manages meeting minutes, official records, and communications. She ensures transparency, accuracy, and adherence to party bylaws.

Craig Ellis
Craig oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, recordkeeping, and state reporting. She ensures the party’s finances remain organized and compliant.
OUR ROOTS
History of the Sanilac County Republican Party
The Sanilac County Republican Party is the official county committee of the Republican Party in Sanilac County, Michigan. This County committee was formalized to build precinct-based operations, facilitate conventions, and support candidates at all levels of government.
Over the decades, the Sanilac County Republican Party has served as the primary organizing body for Republican voters, precinct delegates, activists, candidates, local donors, and volunteers within the county. Its role has included:

Preparing and credentialing precinct delegates for county, district, and state conventions

Conducting county conventions to elect district/state delegates and fill local party roles

Supporting Republican nominees for federal, state, township, and municipal offices

Coordinating grassroots voter outreach and election activities

Providing local Republican representation within the broader structure of the Michigan Republican Party and congressional district committees
Because Sanilac County is predominantly rural and agricultural, the committee historically developed around community networks, township-based leadership, farm organizations, small business owners, and local civic groups. Throughout the 20th century, this alignment shaped the county’s reliably Republican voting pattern in presidential, gubernatorial, and legislative elections.
In the modern period, the committee has continued to support Republican candidates and ballot initiatives, participate in state party conventions, and maintain engagement with statewide and national Republican developments. Local volunteers and precinct delegates remain central to its function, reflecting the Michigan Republican Party’s bottom-up structure where precinct delegates elect leadership rather than leadership appointing the grassroots.
Today, the Sanilac County Republican Party continues to operate as the official county unit of the Michigan Republican Party. Its work centers on elections, outreach, voter education, community presence, and the advancement of Republican values and candidates in Sanilac County.
